Watch out world I know how to use a staple gun….

Here is todays little project.  I used a tutorial from oh fransson:

Been wanting to do it for a while.  I also used InsulBright for the batting which will hopefully hold up better than just warm & natural on its own.  Take a look….

Cabin Block

Well I’m a little behind on my blocks for my sewing bee.  May’s month we were asked to make a block of our home, or somewhere we’d like to be.  I chose to make my favorite place in the world (currently) – our little Log Cabin in the Forest outside Leavenworth.  Take a look-see.  I used Steam-a-Seam 2, to applique.

really, I have been doing something

I guess I’m just not much of the blogger type.   I have been making stuff, just not writing about it all.  Let’s see if I can find some of my projects.

Stash Busting

So I started a project, oh maybe 7 or 8 years ago  - bought a lot of fabric, did a heck of a lot of cutting, never got around to actually making the quilt I had thought I would. hmmmm…

I’m kinda past this fabric now, but we just got a new dining table (since we’ll be hosting Thanksgiving, I thought I’d better have somewhere for the parents to sit) and it needed something to make it look like home.  What to do, what to do.  Then I saw this from Amy at diaryofaquilter.com

Now what fabric to use?  Yep – those deep blue/purple/green/orange batiks from the long abandoned quilt – bonus the strips were already cut.  Perfect for fall & for the dining room AND I get to use up some of my stash.  Great project.

I added some thermal batting with warm&natural on both sides for some extra protection for the table as well & I’m pretty darn happy with how it turned out.  I haven’t finished the binding in the picture, but you get the idea.

Complete.

So here is my completed little mug rug for Grandma B, my husbands mom who is recovering from a fall.  I think it turned out rather well for the time spent on it & hopefully will bring her a smile or two.  Also this is the first time I used my cool little tags that I made.

Have you Hugged your Bot today????

This little baby I stitched up to get back into the swing of embroidery.  Like him?  I got the free pattern from Jenny over at sublimestitching.com .  So nice of her.

Not sure what I’ll do with him yet.  Maybe a little mug rug for my MIL who is recovering from a fall – she could likely use a hug right now.

Hello and welcome to mikamade!

Thanks for visiting.  This is the start of my new blog.

I often feel that as the old saying goes “I am a Jack of all trades, master of none”.  Or for these purposes “Jane of all crafts, mistress of none”.  I enjoy photography, knitting, quilting, sewing, embroidery, cooking, baking and more, in no particular order.  I am not particularly excellent at any one.  I guess I’ve come to terms with that and want to allow myself the freedom to explore any & all things that make me feel productive and creative at the same time.  There is no need nor time for perfection, the purpose is to enjoy myself and hopefully provide for my family a sense of warmth, love and creativity.  Here in this blog I will explore some of the things I make along the way.
